Desi Junction started with just 1 hour Hindi/Punjabi programs in Chicago on 1530 AM WJJG Radio. With growing popularity the radio show now spans 24 hours and can be heard across the globe. With new digital options and innovative ways to connect with wide range of audience, Desi-Junction has been expanding its multi-media activities. Desi-Junction Apps are now available for iPhones and android. Desi-Junction Radio has not only been the most popular Radio Station, but also been a valuable local media for hosting a variety of shows and events for many years, and further aims to bring together the best of talent and creativity in the media industry.

Desi Junction gained unprecedented success in the world of radio all because of dedication and high spirits of its countless volunteers.Desi Junction’s philosophy of connecting people is displayed by its RJ’s and voluntary force, who apart from playing hit music, passionately take up relevant issues that affect people on day to day basis. DJ has emerged as the Junction for the common immigrant man from South Asia where they can meet and share common things.

We value good music and play old and new super hit Bollywood songs. Our talented volunteer team spends hours to research, pick and choose right kind of music for each segment. Today, Desi Junction is widely appreciated for its entertainment values and quality programs.

Our Strengths

Desi Junction’s team is very motivated! Our reach is across various age groups of South Asian descent, with more than 140,000 listeners across the globe. We have more than a decade long band of loyal listeners. Desi Junction has always encouraged people from India and Pakistan to come together on one platform. We support South Asian community and encourage our youth to keep the South Asian Culture alive. Our Annual events like Summer Festival and Heritage India Festivals are a big hit in Chicago community.In the history of Desi Junction, DJ has done many things for the community, promotion of Culture and talent. Today we are adding a new chapter in the book of DJ, we made a platform where anyone can extend a helping hand to the underprivileged. We are starting an initiative to serve those who are in dire need of some help, so Desi Junction has joined hands with some like minded volunteers around the world to give hope and fulfill dreams of underprivileged and orphan kids. DJ History

It was on 1st September 2001 when Jassi Parmar and Dara Singh got together as they wanted to start a radio program that would connect people to their motherland. It was Jassi’s vision and idea to involve more people so even before starting the show Jassi shared the idea with his friends Happy Heer and Baljit Gill who unconditionally supported the idea and thus became the co-founders of Desi Junction.

Desi Junction started as a 1 hour pre-recorded show but within weeks it turned into the 100% live talk and music show. Gradually over the course of a couple months, Desi Junction became a popular Radio show. Learn More >
