Megha Mathur
Name : Megha Mathur
Few Lines About Me : I am currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign studying Interdisciplinary Health Sciences and Spanish. On campus, I works as a Leadership Paraprofessional, advising students about their leadership development.
My Zodiac Sign : Taurus
My Personality Type : Harmonizer, Contextual, Relator, Consistent, and Individualized
My Passions : As a dancer of 16 years, dance is constantly on my mind. I am classically trained in Bharatanatyam, spent many years learning semi-classical dance, and have knowledge of Ballet, Jazz, and Bollywood dance styles. When I’m not choreographing or performing, I love to read books that will leave me deep in thought for days after I’ve finished, as well as attempting to cook and bake new recipes (not a single one has been edible yet!).
My favorite Sports : None, but I will always cheer on my Fighting Illini!
My favorite Books : The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
My Favorite Food : Fried Ice Cream, Bocadillos, and any kind of seafood
My Favorite Actor(s) : Saif Ali Khan
My favorite Actress(s) : Madhuri Dixit
My favorite Movie(s) : Too hard to just pick one! But I will happily watch any action thriller – the Mission Impossible, The Bourne Legacy, and Die Hard series come to mind first.
My favorite movie Dialogue(s) : No dialogues, but any well-choreographed dance sequences are my favorite!
My favorite Song(s) : Mann Mera from Table No. 21
I Love : My family, my home, and my bed.
I Hate : Ikea, driving, and being cold.
Favorite Quote : “Listen to understand, not to respond”
Why Desi Junction : My involvement with Desi Junction began in 2007 when I participated in that year’s Zamane ko Dikhana Hai dance competition. The year before my Dad had become a team member of Desi Junction, so slowly I began to become more involved too. The next year my Mom became a team member and then the whole family became a part of the larger Desi Junction family! It’s been eight years since I’ve been with Desi Junction, and I can honestly say that Desi Junction has had a huge role in shaping me into the person I am today. My Desi Junction family has encouraged me to become outgoing, to work with large teams, and to challenge myself to do things I never thought I could do. It’s been 8 great years with Desi Junction – here’s to 80 more!
More About Me : I work as a Leadership Paraprofessional, advising students about their leadership development. I am President of my sorority, Delta Kappa Delta – a South Asian, service sorority. I am also Director of Advocacy for Colleges Against Cancer- UIUC Chapter. In addition, I am Advocacy Chair for the North Region Campus Leadership Team of the American Cancer Society in which I advises 296 schools on their cancer advocacy campaigns. In my free time I love to dance, read, and cook!
